ACS Doha: Celebrates Family Fun Day with its Staff, Parents and Student Community

Annual Family Fun Day celebrates the strength and spirit of the ACS Doha Community.

Community spirit was celebrated in full as ACS Doha International School hosted its Family Fun Day. This event, which has become an annual feature on the school calendar, brought together approximately 1500 ACS Doha students and their families and 85 ACS Doha staff to enjoy a day filled with fun activities, food and performances.

The theme for this year’s Family fun Day was ‘Wild Wild West’, encouraging the ACS community to participate by dressing up in the theme. The school entrance showcased a unique visual art display demonstrating the collaborative spirit at ACS Doha, including co-curricular activities across the lower, middle and high schools

A wide range of activities were also organised by the Parent School Organisation (PSO) to liven up this year’s theme and enable students of all ages to participate in, including a petting zoo with ponies, ring toss, gold-mining, wagon and horse races, sack races, arts and crafts, a dunk tank, a photo booth, bouncy castles, a mechanical ball, face-painting and balloon twisting. Participants also had the opportunity of enjoying live performances by members of the talented ACS Doha community.

As part of ACS Doha’s endeavour to ‘give back’ to the community, a special charity corner was also set up for Family Fun Day for students and their families to donate pet supplies. The school is committed to supporting the Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS) with all proceeds from Family Fun Day donated to QAWS.

Mr. Steve Calland-Scoble, Head of School at ACS Doha, said: “In addition to encouraging learning through the regular curriculum, we continuously challenge and inspire our students through ‘outside the classroom’ activities that bring the entire ACS community together at occasions such as Family Fun Day.’

‘ACS prides itself on being an important hub for Qatari and expatriate families and staff in Doha and together with their support, has built an enviable reputation in Doha. Family Fun Day is a unique opportunity to celebrate this very collaborative spirit, an aspect which lies at the core of the ACS School philosophy and which has been strengthening each year in Doha, ’ he continued.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to recognise the pivotal role of the PSO in organizing Family Fun Day and helping us foster a strong sense of belonging that unites all the members of the ACS Doha community that continues to strengthen during initiatives such as these.” concluded Mr. Calland-Scoble.

ACS Doha looks ahead with excitement and optimism to build upon its successes to date, fulfill its long term vision for Doha and augment the aims of Qatar’s National Vision 2030. With the support of its staff, parents, students and the wider community, ACS remains committed to contributing to the development of Qatar and is confident that its endeavours will continue to have a positive impact on the overall security and quality of education in Qatar.
